NOTE: The route of the exodus from Egypt, together with the crossing of yam suph(variously translated as "Reed Sea" or "Red Sea") is a matter of hot debate among scholars. The traditional site of the crossing at the northern tip of the Gulf of Suez has recently fallen out of favor. A site across a sand bar in the Mediterranean Sea near Baal-zephon is currently more popular. The truth is, no one knows where this miracle—one of the greatest in the Bible—took place.
